Mini Twist & Twist Out

Aloha my lovelies, I trust you’re enjoying the summer sun (which is such a rarity in England, we’re all more than a little bit stunned). I just love the fact that its not too hot, unfortunately it’s getting a bit rainy and windy :(. Does this mean the end of summer is near?Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been experimenting with protective styles, and I decided to show y’all my favourite ones so far, mini twists.

In all honesty, the twists really aren’t as ‘mini’ as we’ve come to expect mini twists to be. I had about 40-50 twists on my head and since my hair isn’t that dense, it only took 2.5 hours, a far cry from times of 1-2 days that I’ve heard for this style.

To actually the create the twists I didn’t do anything special. I just co-washed my hair using a cheapy ASDA conditioner to detangle, and my usual Elasta QP conditioner. After that I let my hair air dry for 4 hours (it was still wet at this time so there wasn’t even really a point waiting) and started parting my hair into rows. To each row I added a little bit of avocado oil and some of my new favourite product Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. Then I twisted everything up.

Because of work, I’ve had to do conservative styles like keeping my hair up, and out of my face, but because of a three day weekend I let my hair down for the first time in a while. I took the twists out early because I didn’t like the way that I had done them this time around. I’ll probably rock the twist out for the rest of the week.

I like my hair better up, but I still love this.
