Makeup Addict: A makeup hoarder’s product haul

Hey curlies (and kinkies and wavies),

A lot of you who know me know that I don’t really wear makeup, so how can I be a makeup addict? I’m the kind of girl that wears minimal makeup at best, some eyeliner, mascara and a bit of foundation and i’m good to go. In fact, i’ve had people comment that if I want to leave my hair natural I have to at least wear some more makeup or people will think i’m some Ekaette (housemaid) which I just totally ignored. However, my sister suggested a beauty segment on the blog, and even though she’s not currently in a position to post, I decided to start it in her stead. So the Makeup Addict series will focus on SIMPLE, everyday looks and makeup products that won’t break the bank and that you can access here in Nigeria.

So I went on holiday and bought a few more products to my ever growing stash, unfortunately i realised that some of them aren’t available here, my bad. These are the latest (and mostly unnecessary) additions to my makeups tash:

Simple yet effective

B. Even Oil Control foundation in Cappucino: I was looking for a Sleek foundation to replace the two I currently use which are about to finish but there were none in stock. The rep for this brand came to meet me and showed me her brands foundation and asked if i’d like to try it. Now I know they they have an awesome gel liner that is always sold out, so I was quite happy to try. I don’t think this one is available in Nigeria unfortunately.

Lancome┬áTeint Idole Ultra 24H in 10: I’ve been obsessed with getting a high end foundation (forgot about my MAC) for a while, I walked into the store after hearing about Lancome and the lady approached me and asked me to give it a try. I loved the way it looked and bought it.

Lancome La Base Pro Hydra Glow Primer: The lady also suggested I would need a primer to stop my makeup from melting off my face, and I was feeling like a big girl and just went for it. In hindsight, I could have bought about 3 bottles of my other foundations with the cash I used to buy this, so it better be good!

Clinique Lash Power Mascara: My daddy dearest agreed to get me some of my skin products at the duty free and got some sample products. One of them was a mini version of this mascara. As I swooped it on one day I couldn’t believe the lash extension from just one brush, I was in luuurrve!! So when I had the oppurtunity to buy it, I jumped at the chance. When I saw the price though….my eyes began to water, but I bought it anyways. I noticed that the mascara packaging had changed a bit , let’s hope the formula is still the same.

MAC Eye Brows eyebrow definer in Stud: I’m about to run out of eye brow pencil so I quickly rushed to Inglot to buy some but they were sold out. I would have waited till they were back in stock but the lady in the store was really unhelpful so I went to MAC. The lady there was a lot perkier so I bought this mechanic eyebrow pencil.

MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 concealer in NW45: I mistakenly bought the the NW35 concealer twice, TWICE!! I was so vexed the second time, because it ain’t cheap, but I was in a rush and didn’t check the bottom properly before buying. I finally got it in my colour, so hopefully it works well for me.

Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner: these are great for smoky eyes and lower lash lines, so I wanted one, any brand would do. I found this one quite cheap but I don’t think it’s available in Lagos either.

There you have it, I had so much fun buying all of these, I usually buy all my things at one time of the year so although it seems like I spent a lot, i’m not buying anything at all for the next 6 or so months so it evens out (kinda).
